I have been using the Vivid 27 for 2 seasons now. As a porfessional ski guide I am pretty harsh on my gear and get alot of use out of it. The Vivid 27 excels in a lot of categories as a ski touring pack, but there are still things that could be improved.
-The tool pocket is absolutely amazing. The larger YKK zipper is what attracted me to this bag in the first place. It allows for super easy access and good organization all in one pocket. I usually put my skins in there too.
-The chest strap pockets are awesome. I love carrying essentials in there. Though I have found that my phone doesn't fit with a bulkier case. I also wish that the zippered chest pocket had the ability to wire in a speaker mic or hydration hose. It would be a nice addition.
-The waist belt is extremely comfortable and I love the strecthy pocket on one side, it makes for really easy access to more essentials. Though the buckles are hard sewn into the straps, making field repair impoissble. My hip buckle did break.
-I'm not a huge fan of the rear entry main compartment, I find it makes stuffing gear into the bag a bit difficult, though I like that the Vivid 37 is top laod. I do like the internal storage sleeve and pocket on the back flap, its great for valuables.
-The top pocket is amazing, I like the goggle storage zippered pocket, and generally I am accessing this pocket quite frquently.
- I think the ski carrying straps on this pack are quite overkill. The frequency that most folks are carrying their skis on their back is quite low and I think there is too much material around the side loaders. Overall I think the pack could benefit from a reduction of some material. I think a bit more simplicity would go a long way for weight and functionality.
-The pack fit amazing. It hugs your back well and is very comfortable. If it had a lartger compacitiy, I believe it would carry heavy loads really well.
-I am constanly getting compliments on the colors! I love a bright pack!
