Mottainai in Action: Fall 2025 Color by Constraint
At Pingora, we don’t see leftovers—we see potential.
Designing packs with a stack of leftover fabric swatches isn’t always glamorous. You've got the specs—strength, breathability, waterproofing—but what do you do when the colors range from “stormcloud gray” to “sunburned salmon”?
Every season, our small team opens up the design table to creative minds outside our walls. We bring in designers, artists, and athletes to help us translate our deadstock sourcing into colorways that are bold, functional, and unmistakably Pingora. Mottainai may be about conservation, but it’s also about creativity. And constraints are a powerful place to start.
Introducing the Fall 2025 Vivid Ski Packs.

This season’s Vivid series is made from PFAS-free nylon sourced from some of the best mills in the industry—rescued from rejection, rerouted from waste. The lineup was shaped by three creative voices:
- Sally No, a Bay Area designer with a background in technical outerwear and a knack for contrast and structure.
- Emma, a ski patroller, climbing guide, and industrial designer from Oregon who knows how to make gear work in the real world.
- Chuck Landvatter, a Utah-based artist who sees color through the lens of movement and terrain.
This is what it means to design with Mottainai. Not just minimizing waste—but elevating it.
